What Makes A Good Support Worker?

What on the surface looks like quite a simple question is in our opinion, not so black and white. It is like asking what makes a good life partner or what is the best food? The answer is it differs from person to person with everyone having their own unique traits and characteristics that influence their decisions and what they see as being “good.” Besides, wouldn’t life be quite boring if everyone was exactly the same?

At Abilitive, we value matching the client with the best support worker, and having them driving the selection process to ensure their time is being maximised and they have the ideal fit for their needs. This support worker matching process is what separates us from other organisations. As a bespoke support service provider, we believe selecting the right support worker is paramount to client growth leading to them reaching their full potential.

It is for this reason that we value the diversity of our support workers, whilst all currently being under the age of 35, they all come from diverse backgrounds and have their own fascinating journeys and differing interests that will ensure our clients have the perfect fit for their needs.

Despite all this, we do believe our support workers possess underlying values and traits that are quite universal and align with our vision at Abilitive. No one wants a support worker to rock up and be disinterested, uninspiring and unfriendly. That’s why we at Abilitive ensure our support work staff are energetic, vibrant, friendly with excellent communication skills. We believe most people will agree with these traits being positives and contributing to the making of a “good” support worker.

We hope this blog has helped you understand a little more about the values and vision of Abilitive, and how we can help you and your family with your needs - if you would like any further information please don’t hesitate to get in touch!
